1 dead, another injured in shooting outside mall in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A juvenile boy was killed and a man was injured in a shooting Tuesday night outside a shopping mall in Indianapolis, officials say.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said, according to The Associated Press, that a shooting happened Tuesday just before 8 p.m. outside of the Castleton Square Mall.




IMPD Capt. Mike Leepper said that the man is in stable condition, according to the AP.

Leepper also said that there is another adult involved who is cooperating with the police and he is a person of interest. According to the AP, Leepper said that they believe that there is no threat to the public and all parties involved in the incident are in custody.

According to the AP, police believe that there may have been an altercation in the parking lot prior to the shooting.




The AP reported that in 2020, a man was shot inside the Castleton Square Mall and later died from his injuries. And in 2021, a woman was shot at the same mall but was only injured.

No further information has been released.
