8-month-old baby found safe after Amber Alert issued, investigators say

Deputies say Terry Aries is still at large and is a career offender with a violent criminal history.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The missing 8-month-old baby girl at the center of a Florida Amber Alert has been found safe, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say her father, Terry Aries, is still at large.

Sheriff Michelle Cook led a briefing about the incident on Thursday night.

She explained that the child was taken by her biological father who did not have custody.

Deputies were dispatched just after 4:30 p.m. to reports of a potential child abduction, says Cook. The complainant said Aries took the child and fled on foot.

Cook says Aries secured a ride to Youngerman Circle in Duval County and was dropped off there with the child.

An Amber Alert was issued after 8 p.m. and just after 8:34 p.m., authorities were advised that the baby was left at a house on Shelton Street.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded and found the child safe at 9:05 p.m.

Cook says it’s unclear if the baby was left alone at the home on Shelton Street, however, deputies believe the home belonged to a family member.

The child is with family members right now and is safe, says CCSO.

Deputies say Aries is still at large and is a career offender with a violent criminal history. If you see him or know of his whereabouts, deputies ask you not to engage and to instead call 911.
