Fire destroys Wolfeboro grocery store
Wolfeboro’s fire chief said no one was hurt when the fire started after the store closed Monday night.
WOLFEBORO, N.H. —Crews remain on the scene of a large fire that destroyed a grocery store in Wolfeboro.
Black smoke could be seen billowing out of Hunter’s Shop ‘n Save on South Main Street, right across from Lake Winnipesaukee Monday night. The Wolfeboro Town Hall is also located in the area.
Crews from more than 10 towns responded to the call shortly after 9:15 p.m.
Bystanders told News 9 when the fire broke out, they saw the front of the building engulfed in flames and wanted to make sure everyone was OK.
The Wolfeboro fire chief told News 9 that no one was in the building when the fire started and there are no injuries.
According to the store’s website, it had closed at 8 p.m. The manager told News 9 the store employs about 70 people.
The Wolfeboro Fire Chief said some people in the area may notice discoloration in their water. If that happens, he suggests getting in touch with the water department.
