Now if recent reports are to be believed, the timeless dress seems to have suffered irreparable damage, according to pictures shared online.

The vintage dress by Jean-Louis was worn by the movie actress in 1962 at then US President John F Kennedy’s 45th birthday. Monroe and her sheer dress became the talk of the town.

When Kardashian arrived at the red carpet of Met Gala 2022, fans of Monroe were not happy as many feared that the reality TV star wasn’t the right fit for the iconic dress and could end up destroying it.

Though reports suggest that Kardashian only wore the actual dress for her strut down the red carpet before changing into a replica, the fresh photos showing visible damages to the vintage piece is adding fire to the fire, which had finally fizzled down.

Netizens took to the micro-blogging platform Twitter to express their shock and displeasure on the pictures that have gone viral, while some demanded a response from Kardashian.

“Pre and post Kim Kardashian. Marilyn Monroe’s 4 million dollar president dress is destroyed forever. For what? We have no respect for anything anymore as long as it they get the gram,” one user wrote on Twitter.

“A piece of Hollywood history has lost its flawless magnificence,” another person wrote.

According to Page Six, the 41-year-old star lost 16 pounds in the weeks leading up to the event in order to fit into the historic gown, and she even changed into a duplicate once she arrived at the party’s entry since she couldn’t move freely in the original.

“I’m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history,” Kardashian said ahead of the party. “I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won’t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do.”
