Multiple people reported shot in Montgomery County, authorities say

The shooting happened in the vicinity of Colony Road and Nothampton Drive in Montgomery County.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Authorities in Montgomery County are responding to a report of multiple people shot early Wednesday morning. Pete Piringer, spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, tweeted that crews were responding to the reported shooting around 4:30 a.m.

The shooting happened in the vicinity of Colony Road and Northampton Drive in Silver Spring, according to Piringer. That’s near the Northwest Park Apartments. Piringer reported multiple people had been shot, but it’s not yet clear how many people were involved, or the severity of their injuries Wednesday morning

Montgomery County Police said they are on scene investigating a shooting. A department spokesperson is working to get additional information from officers on the scene. Drivers nearby are asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues. There is no word yet on suspects or a motive in this shooting, or whether any arrests have been made.
