Jimmy Raven suffered a series of infections that resulted in the amputation of several limbs before his untimely death.
On November 28, 2020, he announced his immediate retirement from wrestling along with the news that due to an infection, his left arm had been amputated.
He shared a screenshot of a note to Twitter The account wrote, “This is the hardest tweet I’ve ever given.”
In the note, he mentions how lucky he has been to be in wrestling for 21 years, and how his dream must come to an end.
“This past Tuesday, my world fell apart when the doctors discovered my left arm was infected,” the note read.
“I tried to practice but by the time I saw the doctor it was too late and they had to amputate my left arm above the elbow. So effectively ended my ring career. “
The following year, Rave returned to Twitter to announce both of his legs had to be amputated as well, by MRSA.
On October 24, 2021, he shared the news along with a photo of himself in the hospital.
“Clearly it’s time for me to come clean,” the former wrestler wrote.
“This past June, I started having trouble walking and went to see the surgeon. He determined that I had MRSA in both legs and they needed to be amputated immediately.”

Wrestlers are at risk for this infection due to frequent skin-to-skin contact.
Infections often begin as red, sometimes painful bumps. These bumps can quickly turn into deep boils and may require surgical drainage.
Because of its resistance to antibiotics, MRSA can be especially difficult to treat.
The infection can appear on its own in a person’s blood, lungs, heart, bones, or joints.
What is the cause of death of Jimmy Rave?
The cause of death of the late Jimmy Rave has not yet been released.
His daughter, Kailah, and his friend, Bill Behren, confirmed his death on Monday, December 13.
They said: “James Michael Guffey has passed away at the age of 39.
“James is best known as Professional Wrestler, Jimmy Rave. His career, which began in 1999, spanned more than 2 decades.
“Jimmy has struggled with drug addiction for many years. His struggles led to the amputation of his arms and later both legs.”
